Gideon Barak, Co-Founder and Chairman of the Board
Gideon Barak is Chairman of Advasense Inc. and IXI Mobile, Inc. Mr. Barak is currently a board member of several other technology companies in the software and networking sectors, including Metalink Ltd. (NASDAQ: MTLK). Mr. Barak has over 20 years experience in the wireless and technology industries, and has held leading positions in a number of companies including co-founder and CEO of DSP Communications (NASDAQ: DSPC), acquired by Intel in 1999 for $1.6 billion, and Founder and Chairman of Envara and Butterfly VLSI, acquired by Intel and Texas Instruments in 2004 and 2000, respectively.
Mr. Barak was also a board member of Modem Art, a WCDMA baseband chipset developer, acquired by Agere in 2005, WIDCOMM, a Bluetooth protocol stack developer, acquired by Broadcom in 2004, and RF Waves, a wireless chipset provider, acquired by Vishay in 2004.
Yair Shoham
Yair Shoham is a Partner at Genesis Partners. Mr. Shoham has an in-depth understanding of US and Israeli corporate law and hands-on entrepreneurial experience. Prior to joining Genesis Partners, He helped establish Butterfly VLSI and led its sale to Texas Instruments. Mr. Shoham joined Butterfly from VDOnet, which he co-founded in 1996 and where he successfully co-led the sale of VDOnet's technology to Citrix Systems. Mr. Shoham began his career practicing securities and corporate law, first in the US, where he developed an expertise in M&A’s and IPO’s, and then in Israel, where he was a partner at one of Israel’s leading law firms, Goldfarb, Levy, Eran & Co.
Mr. Shoham holds a JD from Loyola University School of Law and a BA from Haifa University.
Yossi Hason
Yossi Hason has over 10 years of experience working with, at, and around start-up and emerging businesses, as an investor and as an operations manager. Immediately prior to joining BlueRun Ventures, Mr. Hason worked at Intel Capital's wireless group as a senior strategic investment manager. Prior to Intel, Mr. Hason was a co-manager for one of Israel’s biggest funds, which invested in the telecommunication and wireless technologies arena. During that period he led investments and sat on boards and executive committees of several hi-tech companies.
Mr. Hason graduated with honors from the prestigious program for exceptional students at the Tel Aviv University, Israel. He holds a Masters in Economics and a B.A. in Computer Science and Economics from the same university.
Ori Kirshner
Ori Kirshner joined Giza in 2000 bringing 20 years of experience to the fund. He focuses on the sectors of Communications and Information Technology with expertise in the area of semiconductors. Formerly, Mr. Kirshner was Product Director at MINT and Backweb, founded and managed IBM Microelectronics Israel, and was an application engineer at Motorola. Mr. Kirshner also worked as R&D Manager for CAD/CAM systems in Tecnomatix and Cycon.
Mr. Kirshner holds an MBA in Marketing and Finance and a B. Sc. in Mathematics and Computer Science from the Tel Aviv University, Israel.
Jim Diller
Jim Diller is a semiconductor industry veteran with 20 years of senior management experience. Most recently Mr. Diller managed an investment fund doing angel investing in start-up companies.
Prior to his investment management role, Mr. Diller was CEO of Altos Semiconductor, a start-up company in thermal and system management that was later sold to Micrel. He has also held various positions at National Semiconductor including Vice President of the System Products Group.
Mr. Diller holds a BS in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from UC Berkeley. He serves on the board of directors of Optichron, Zenasis Technologies and Mach Energy and acts as a board observer at Axiom Microdevices, Tzero and Aquantia.
Naftaly Sharir - CEO
Mr. Sharir has over 20 years of extensive business and technical experience in the DSP, Audio, Video, VLSI, Avionics and Residential Gateway markets. Mr. Sharir’s rich career in video, wireless, mobile and multimedia began at IBM Research Labs where he led the multimedia group pioneering VoIP. Following this Mr. Sharir served as VP R&D at VDOnet, a pioneer of video over TCP/IP networks; VP R&D at Zapex Research, developers of a MPEG1 encoder chip for video surveillance and PVR markets in the Far East; and CEO of Emblaze Research Ltd. (now part of Zoran Mobile) establishing Emblaze as a leader in the emerging Mobile Multimedia market. From 2003 to 2004 Mr. Sharir served as CEO of Electronics-Line 3000 Ltd., a leader in residential wireless security systems pioneering a residential security system with two-way TCP/IP connection. Electronics-Line 3000 (EL3K) is listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange and has an annual turnover of ~37M$.
Mr. Sharir is a partner, board member and one of the founders of Alango, a technology company based in Haifa and St. Petersburg, Russia. Alango develops technologies and turnkey solutions in speech, music and other audio signal processing, biomedical signal processing, and algorithms and software for data analysis and analytical instruments.
Mr. Sharir holds a B.Sc. (Cum Laude), from the Technion Institute of Technology, Haifa, Israel.
